Adult Horse Riding Mission Viejo

One thing about horses is learning to jump with them and adults will enjoy this challenge.

Positions and points to remember:

  1. The jumping position
The horse needs space and freedom to arch his back and stretch out and keep his balance on landing, so aim to give him all that while keeping your own balance. A lot of jumping is about balance so ensure you have this balance before stating to jump with your horse. A comfortable, safe jump position is to let the body to go forward and you must follow the horse movement without getting off balance yourself. Don't let you legs swing back and this way the horse will be free on his backside. The stirrups should be shorter that when doing flat work but not too short so that you can't use your legs . The best idea is to raise your seat out of the saddle by closing the angle of your hips, knees and ankles and pushing your weight into your heels. Remember heels are important at this stage. You must use them. When your seat is pushed back and this allows your body to fold forward like in yoga. 2. Start to jump with the horse
Practice the jumping position first at the halt and then at walk, trot, and canter. At first the shorter the stirrups will feel very strange and keep your seat in the saddle will make you feel scared. It will be a big test of balance. Try to fold your body instead of pushing up in the stirrups. Don't hold too tight and be careful on the horse not to pull on its mouth because it will hurt the horse a lot.

A few other points to learn would be, Approach in balance, Go with the horses flow and making sure you sit up on landing.
